M4R
M4R (MPEG-4 Part 14)
M4R is the audio format used by Apple in the iTunes application. M4R files are usually ringtones that you can install on your iPhone. At its core, M4R is a regular M4A (MPEG-4) audio file, and the .m4r extension is used to distinguish ringtones from other melodies. Often the maximum length of an M4K ringtone is limited to 40 seconds. If you downloaded such a file from the music store on your iPhone, you will need to convert it to use on other devices.
